Boris Murvanidze, a member of the 8th Ivanovo City Duma and Director of the Ivanovo House of Nationalities, invited Miladin Lazić, Head of the Municipality of Šekovići, to visit Ivanovo, expressing his deep respect and gratitude for Lazic’s invaluable contribution to the development of Russian-Balkan relations and his direct involvement in strengthening cooperation between regions of the Russian Federation and Republika Srpska. Boris Yuryevich also expressed his desire to visit the unique Municipality of Šekovići.
On the eve of 9 May, a letter was received by the head of the Municipality from Republika Srpska, which declares, in particular:
‘In view of the fact that in just a few days – on 9 May – the world will celebrate the 81st anniversary of the Victory over fascism, I would like to congratulate you, the residents of the Municipality of Šekovići and Republika Srpska on this most important holiday, and to assure you of our unshakeable conviction: together we will win! Allow me, from the heart of Russia – the city of Ivanovo – to assure you of our love for the Serbian people – and to wish you strength of spirit, development and prosperity!”
It is worth noting that the Ivanovo Region is currently a leader in the development of Russian-Balkan cooperation across various fields. At the end of April, the unique ‘Balkan Bridge’ forum-festival took place here, and the region was also visited by a delegation led by Draga Mastilović, Minister of Scientific and Technological Development and Higher Education of Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
