Representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo, Alexander Borisov, and the Russian Humanitarian Mission, Ilya Tyapkov, visited the Bosnian community of Kiselyak and told students at the local EngRus Center for Russian Language and Culture about key Russian landmarks, the peculiarities of life in Russian cities, and the celebration of national holidays, including Maslenitsa.
Tyapkov, a native of Ivanovo, described his hometown as a gem of Russia’s Golden Ring and explained why it is famous for its brides and has earned the title of “Russian Manchester.”
Borisov recalled the city of Kyakhta (Troitskosavsk), which was founded by a Serb, a native of Herzegovina, Savva Vladislavich-Raguzinsky.
In turn, the director of the EngRus Center, Teya Stanich, shared: “I am engaged in the popularization of the Russian language, and I try to explain how much a person is enriched by learning it and being able to read Russian classical literature in the original.”
